Working as a photojournalist back in 2008, I was always looking for unusual photo-story ideas. The concept here was to spend a whole day by the Hachiko statue outside Shibuya Station and photograph the people waiting. I remember that it was a typically cold and bright Tokyo winter’s day. Something interesting about these and other street portraits I have taken is that very few people decline to be photographed. People I photograph tend to look bemused, often friendly, only occasionally a bit annoyed.
