Kuidaore is an Osaka dialect word meaning “to eat yourself into ruin”. While excellent eating can be found pretty much everywhere in Japan, nowhere rivals Osaka for its wide variety of inexpensive and delicious food options. Most of these photos were taken in Osaka’s Dotonbori district, long renowned as the epicentre of kuiadore. These days, it’s packed with tourists, particularly from other parts of Asia. Hence, the eye-watering prices for some of the mouth-watering titbits! Anyone for a £5 strawberry?
