grounded, growing

This ongoing project focuses on allotment owners in Frome, Somerset (the town where I live). Frome has 247 allotments across eight sites: the largest with 106 plots and the smallest just six. Chatting with the allotment owners featured here, I’ve come to realise that allotments are far more than just a place to grow food. They are a respite from ever-more-online daily lives. They are a place to make friends and build community. Somewhere to feel very literally grounded, and perhaps even a place for people to grow. I don’t have any allotment myself, but I’m tempted to join the waiting list. If only it weren’t several years long!
